Cette année, nous avons reçu 5 089 demandes pour la Bourse Loran. Nos bénévoles ont évalué et interviewé 518 étudiants à travers le pays afin d’identifier les 88 élèves du secondaire et du cégep (listés ci-dessous) invités à participer à nos Sélections Nationales à Toronto les 1 et 2 février 2019.
Notre processus de sélection rigoureux vise à découvrir les traits de personnalité importants – l’intégrité, le courage, la compassion, et l’esprit entrepreneurial – chez les jeunes Canadiens qui sont engagés à servir la collectivité. Ces 88 finalistes viennent de tous les horizons, des plus grandes villes du Canada aux régions les plus éloignées. Lors des Sélections Nationales, nos intervieweurs sélectionneront jusqu’à 34 boursiers Loran.
Depuis 1988, la Fondation Boursiers Loran a octroyé plus de 46,3 millions de dollars en bourses de premier cycle à des jeunes Canadiens prometteurs en raison de leur caractère, de leur service, et de leur potentiel de leadership. Le prix Loran est évalué à 100 000 $ sur quatre ans, incluant une allocation annuelle de 10 000 $, des frais de scolarité de l’une de nos 25 universités partenaires, du mentorat, du financement pour des stages d’été, des retraites annuelles, et une expédition d’orientation d’une semaine au parc Algonquin. Les finalistes qui ne sont pas sélectionnés comme Boursiers Loran sont admissibles à recevoir une bourse de finaliste de 5 000 $, valable dans n’importe quelle université publique canadienne.
